Hotel Continental, Venice - Italy

PROJECT AND DESIGN
The project for Hotel Continental in Venice has been developed in cooperation with the Customer and his aesthetic requests on the one hand, and the building exigencies on the other hand.
The main focus was the re-modernization of the lobby, giving an elegant and precious taste, but at the same time, functional and practical.
The technical drawings have been completely created by Decormarmi's technical department that supplied a complete service from the site survey for taking measurements to the drawings development.
Our proposals have been evaluated together with the Customer in order to identify eventual improvements or to define materials and patterns.
This moment is always fundamental for the finalisation of the project: by discussing with the Customer all the details of his project, we are able to perceive his thoughts and make them sensible and rationalized. This would avoid unpleasant outcome due to misunderstandings or unsaid details that may seem obvious but maybe would make some difference.

The contemporary design of our proposal is well harmonized with the generally style of the hotel, and it offers a cue of freshness, but not too minimalist.
The light tones predominate: the crème and yellow colours are interrupted by the side borders that dance together with a thin black stripe
The colour and geometric plays create a cosy atmosphere, relaxing and harmonious.
At the end, the 12 central light columns have both a structural exigency and an aesthetic function.

MATERIALS
In order to respond to the request of an elegant and precious environment, we directly opted for materials that are unique and highly significant on their own: Giallo Siena, Estremoz Crème and Nero Marquina.
Giallo Siena is part of the Italian history: it has been always used in many church floorings and noble palaces. It is present in nature with a light tone and various shades: from dark through light yellow, till almost white, with black or grey veins.
Estremoz is a Portuguese marble that has a crystalline, almost transparent structure. We have chosen the crème tone in order to combine it with yellow.
Nero Marquina is another historic marble, that was also used in artistic and exclusive surroundings.

WORKMANSHIP
The big tiles of the floor have been elaborated in order to have a central and balanced effect. As in a couture-house, everything has been made to measure, personalising any step.
As per our usual service, we installed all the floor tiles in our laboratory: this is a fundamental moment in which we can check each tile, the joints, sizes and colour matching. This phase is important both for Decormarmi, which assures itself of the good execution of the order, and for the customer that can check personally his project and ask for eventual further requests.
After the positive check, we can proceed with the packaging and delivery.
A team of Decormarmi's installers executed the installation at the hotel and cared for each detail of filling, cutting and polishing.
